How do I decide if a church is right for me?

Great question. But the answer is another question! Does the church teach and apply the scriptures? Here are some examples...

Do the people learn about giving… and then give?
Do the people learn they ought to forgive… and then forgive?
Do the people learn about missions… and then send missionaries?

It is very easy to find a church; there are over 530 in Lakeland alone! That’s a lot. But to find one that teaches God’s word as truth and then seeks to apply it is another thing. The church that’s right for you is one that will teach you truth and then demonstrate it in real life.

At Heritage we hope that as you come and learn, you’ll watch. And as you watch, we hope you’ll observe a people that love the Lord so much, we’re willing to apply His word to our lives. The church that’s right for you is the one that will teach the truth and then demonstrate how to apply it to your life!

Ask yourself these seven questions

  • Is the message of the Bible presented clearly and passionately with a view toward application?
  • Do I agree with the church’s doctrinal beliefs statement?
  • Do I understand and support the church’s mission and vision?
  • Do I agree with the church’s doctrinal statement?
  • Is discipleship a major priority of the church both locally and globally?
  • Is this a place where my family and I can learn and grow?
  • Is this a place where my family and I will be encouraged and equipped to use our gifts for the glory of God?
