Spiritual Questions & Answers
Don’t I have to be good to go to church?
Nope. As a matter of fact, the church, as God planned it, is for people who aren’t good. Jesus said, “those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick.” (Matthew 9:12 – check it out!) So, if you’re “not good” – come join us. You’ll find a lot of like company.
What if my life is pretty messed up?
Join the crowd. Take a number. Many of us asked ourselves the same question. We’d done things we’re not proud of and are still difficult to talk about, but the great thing about church is you find out we have so much in common. And you’ll meet other people who have experienced Jesus turning their lives around.
I grew up in church, but got off-track somewhere. Is there a way back?
Yes, a thousand times over. And you will find the hardest step is the first one. Just take it. Talk to someone (James 5:16) about what is going on with your life. There are people that understand, that remember their “first step back,” and now have a lifetime of non-regret to encourage you! It is always God’s desire that his children walk with him and the greatest news is, like the prodigal’s father, he is already walking that way to meet you!
How do I know if this whole “God thing” is real?
Bottom line? Get in the Bible and ask lots of questions. That’s what we are here for. God asks us to love him with “all of our heart, soul, mind and strength” – did you catch the “mind” part? – He WANTS you to ask him the tough questions. He’s God, He’s got the answers.
What is the purpose of my life?
Life can seem so pointless sometimes, can’t it? We’re born, we pick a career maybe, meet someone we like, it does or doesn’t work out, we have kids… and on and on. But is that really the POINT of us being born? To live a life that maybe goes 70+ years, and then the clock runs out? No, God’s purpose for each of our lives is way bigger than we could ever imagine. (John 10:10) But we ONLY start to find our meaning and purpose in life when we are born again.
